I have owned the JavaPerk for about 8-9 years. It is hard to find a medium size electric percolator. I plug it in , it runs but does not get hot enough so I need to wait approx 30 minutes and plug it in again.
Have also replaced at least 2 of the plastic knobs. Why or why can't they make it of glass. After about 5 I had to replace the cord, contacted Salton and received replacement quite quickly.
Same complaints about the very tight-fitting top & plastic knob. Cheap to replace but shipping is high. Now it is on its last legs.
I'd happily pay extra.However.I really like the taste of the coffee, its size & style. I'm about ready to take a chance and buy a new one, keep old one for spare parts.
Very very good unit (except for the plastic top} After 2 years it broke so i drilled the plastic top with a 1/4 20 hole & put a washer in side. stronger than ever.even looks good.so far so good after 2 years
I would like to echo the sentiments of the other reviewers. Problem is, it just isn't sturdy enough. This pot is excellent, except for the plastic top. The lid is extremely tight and requires using the platic handle to remove it. Very disappointing. After reading the other reviews, I've decided not to order a replacement part and chalk this up as a bad purchase.
Coffee just seems to taste better when percolated rather than "dripped". Also, serves a hotter cup of coffee - which I prefer. I'll probably never go back to drip. I have tried other types of percolators and this one makes the best tasting coffee.
Good product that does not seem to be available in stores anymore. Great online price. Fast delivery. Overall a simple, fast, inexpensive online shopping esperience.
